Zero trust architecture diagram template

A zero trust architecture checks every request instead of trusting anything inside the network. This example shows the control plane, where identity, device health, security monitoring and data classification feed a policy engine, and the data plane, where an enforcement point allows or denies each user, device or workload access to segmented apps, data and workloads.

How to use this template

  1. List your signals

Write down what you know about each request: who the user is, whether MFA passed, whether the device is managed and healthy, and where it is coming from.

  2. Segment what you protect

Group resources by sensitivity and decide who should reach each group, on which devices and from where.

  3. Start with one app

Put one important app behind the enforcement point first, learn from it, then extend. Zero trust is a journey, not a product.
