Joiner, mover, leaver access process template

A joiner, mover, leaver process makes sure people have the right access on their first day, lose old access when they change role and lose all access the day they leave. This example runs across HR, line manager, IT and identity, and system owner lanes, with role-based access, approvals for extra apps and quarterly access reviews.

How to use this template

  1. Let HR trigger it

Use HR system changes, such as a start date or leaving date, to trigger access changes automatically. Emails get missed.

  2. Grant access by role

Give each role a standard bundle of access, and require system owner approval for anything extra.

  3. Remove access promptly

Disable accounts on the last day and remove access to old systems when someone moves role. Movers often keep access they no longer need.
