Charity strategic plan on a page template

A strategic plan on a page gives staff, volunteers and trustees one picture of where the charity is going. This example draws a three-year strategy as a house: the vision as the roof, the mission as the beam, four strategic goals as pillars with their priorities and a measure for each, values as the foundation and people, money and digital as the enablers underneath. Progress bars show how far each measure has come.

How to use this template

  1. Write the vision and mission

Keep the vision to one sentence about the world you want, and the mission to one sentence about what you do.

  2. Choose three to five goals

Give each goal a pillar with no more than three priorities and one measure you can report every quarter.

  3. Add the foundations

Name the values that guide decisions and the enablers, such as people, money and systems, that hold the goals up.
