Grant application calendar template

Most grant applications go wrong in the last week, when budgets, letters and sign-offs all arrive at once. This calendar plans a grant over six weeks, Monday to Friday, with a colour for each kind of task: research, writing, budget, partner letters and sign-off. A checklist holds the attachments to gather, with notes on roles and what to do once you have submitted.

How to use this template

  1. Work back from the deadline

Put the funder's deadline in the last cell and your own submission date two days before it, then plan each week backwards.

  2. Book the slow tasks early

Support letters, budget sign-off and trustee approval depend on other people. Ask for them in the first three weeks.

  3. Gather attachments as you go

Tick off accounts, policies and letters as they arrive, so the upload day is only about the portal.
