Contract lifecycle template

Contract lifecycle management covers everything from the first business request to the day a contract is renewed or ended. This board puts the contract in the middle, with its parties, value, term, auto-renewal and notice period, and the eight stages around it: request, draft, negotiate, approve, sign, store, manage and renew or exit. A countdown to the notice deadline and an obligations list sit beside it.

This is a planning example, not legal advice. Check your own policies, advisers and the local rules that apply to you.

How to use this template

  1. Map the stages

List the stages your contracts go through and who owns each one. Most problems happen at handovers, such as signing to storage.

  2. Capture the key dates

Record the start, end, renewal and notice dates for each contract. These drive the renew or exit decision.

  3. Track obligations

List what each side must do during the contract, such as service reviews or insurance certificates, and give each one an owner.
